History of MSC ” Dnipro “Cherkasy City Council
For more than sixty years of history, the main sports facility of the Cherkasy region – the “Central Stadium” – worked saturated with bright events way. from 1957 to 2017, the main activity of the enterprise was exclusively the maintenance of sports facilities of the stadium.
Further in the history of the “Central Stadium” there have been significant changes associated, first of all, with new trends in the sports sphere, which relate not only to the development of infrastructure. New projects have been created, including those caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Thanks to the productive work of the new management of the enterprise, a landmark event in 2017 was the transfer to the city municipal enterprise “Central Stadium” from SE “NVK” Fotopribor “of the Sokol sports complex with a swimming pool. In a short period, a recuperation system was installed in the pool, a game hall was repaired with the installation of high-quality lighting, a foyer, a locker room, a passage to the sports complex from the central alley was equipped with paving slabs, and large facade windows were replaced.
Gradually, the “Central Stadium” has become not only a place for sports competitions at the city, regional, and all-Ukrainian levels and takes an active part in their organization, providing quality conditions, but also initiates various events.
In 2018, the leadership of the Central Stadium communal enterprise attracted attention to the lack of sports teams in-game sports in Cherkasy and the region, where the best students of local youth sports schools could continue engaging in their favorite sports. Previously, 17-18-year-old boys and girls, after completing their studies at sports schools, either stopped playing sports or moved to continue their sports careers in other cities of Ukraine. Then the idea arose to create a municipal sports club “Dnipro,” which for local athletes should become a kind of “elevator” between youth and adult sports. The priority is an invitation to the teams of local capable athletes. The idea of creation was supported by deputies of the Cherkasy city council and Cherkasy mayor Anatoly Bondarenko, members of the executive committee, deputy mayor Yuri Botnar, and Igor Kolomoets.
Thus, on August 31, 2018, the municipal sports club Dnipro was created based on the Central Stadium.
The story began with the creation of teams in-game sports from a football team and its performance in the Ukrainian championship among players of the U-19 age category.
RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN WAR
After the beginning of the open military attack of Russia on Ukraine – on February 24, 2022, the life of the municipal sports club changed dramatically.
During the first month of hostilities in the hostel of our club, resettlement and catering were organized for almost 300 people who moved from other settlements of Ukraine. Here it is necessary to note cooperation with the Humanitarian Center, which in the first days of the war was created on the initiative of the mayor of Cherkasy Anatoly Bondarenko.
During the critical period, at the beginning of the war, our club bus, together with public organizations of Cherkasy, organized the transportation of children with mothers to the western border of the country.
Students of Cherkasy Medical Academy based on our club conducted first aid classes, in particular, stopping bleeding, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and so on.
Since the beginning of the war, the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been replenished by six representatives of the Dnipro Sports Complex: Roman Nadtochiy (head coach of the rugby team), Bogdan Artemenko (assistant head coach of the women’s team), Yevgeny Polin, Oleg Grabovoy, Vyacheslav Boyko and Boris Tsarenko.
To provide targeted assistance to employees of our company and sports fans of the city of Cherkasy – “Ultras,” serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our club organized charity auctions in social networks, where lots were: medal of the winner of the Cup of Ukraine 1994/1995. Cherkasy Igor Stolovitsky, T-shirts of famous Ukrainian football players Roman Yaremchuk (national team of Ukraine), Vladislav Kabaev (Zoria Lugansk), Dynamo Kyiv T-shirt with signatures of legendary football players Oleksander Aliyev and Artem Milevsky, which was provided by Cherkasy Mayor Anatoly Bondarenko.
With the support of MSC “Dnipro” (Cherkasy), all those who are not indifferent and futsal community of Cherkasy region, the Nissan X-TRAIL car was purchased and handed over to one of the leaders of Cherkasy Ultras, the head of the NGO “Power. Protection. Honor “Serhiy Glukhovchenko” Ice “for the needs of the army – for the unit of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
MSC Dnipro along with the Futsal Association of Cherkasy region held a large-scale charity mini-football tournament, in which 18 teams took part. All the funds raised during the tournament, and these are charitable contributions from the teams and partners of the tournament – the Cheese Kingdom and Cherkasibudgarant store, were used to buy another car for Cherkasy ultras and other necessary things needed for the employees of the Dnipro MSC (Cherkasy) serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The youth football team took part in the regional charity tournament “Cup of Heroes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” During the home matches of MSC Dnipro, there was a prize draw among those who purchased charity tickets for the games.
The final of the “Cup of Heroes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” was held at the “Cherkasy Arena,” where prizes were also won among those who purchased charity tickets. Partners of the prize draw were: Saturn Company; American Ukrainian Aid Foundation; FC “LNZ” (Cherkasy); MSC Dnipro (Cherkasy). All collected funds from the sale of charity tickets were transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
After that, MSC “Dnipro” together with the Futsal Association of Cherkasy region held a regional charity tournament for the “Cup of Heroes of the Armed Forces” in futsal.
In early summer 2022, MSC Dnipro announced the start of collecting tracksuits, shorts, T-shirts, slippers, and sneakers for fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were in hospitals for treatment after being injured. The residents of our city and the Sport-Service company (Kyiv) were the first to respond to such an action.
Subsequently, one of the medical institutions where our fighters are being treated received the first batch of 75 tracksuits, which were handed over by friends from the United States, namely, the Ukrainian American Freedom Foundation Inc. the American Ukrainian Aid Foundation and Sergey Sklyarenko.
Center for the development of sports of war veterans and adaptive sports of MSK “Dnipro”
In 2022, the forces of the municipal sports club MSC Dnipro organized physical culture and sports recovery for veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war with the opportunity to prepare for various competitions and games among veterans. The first to start classes were Serhii Priadka, Vadym Maznichenko and Valerii Kovalchuk. Then, Maksym Dmytrash, Yaroslav Platmir, Igor Soroka joined them. Training takes place after the coach’s consultations and alternates with a visit to the rehabilitation room.
In May 2023, participants in the Heroes project (MSC Dnipro) Vadym Maznichenko, Valerii Kovalchuk, Maksym Dmytrash, Yaroslav Platmir and Igor Soroka took part in a nationwide competition “Invictus Games” among veterans and active servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, The Security Service of Ukraine, as well as the volunteer formations that were wounded, injured or ill while on duty. Also, the Invictus Games were a qualifying nationwide tour for the national team at the Invictus Games in Germany.
Gold medals were won by Yaroslav Platmir, Igor Soroka, and Maksym Dmytrash, a silver award in the asset of Maksym Dmytrash, and Vadym Maznichenko became the bronze medalist of the games.
According to the results of the nationwide competition “Invictus Games” Maksym Dmytrash and Vadym Maznichenko entered the national team at the Invictus Games – 2023.
In September 2023, the Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 was held in Germany – an international sports event for adaptive sports for veterans and military personnel
The competition was attended by 600 participants from 22 countries. Ukraine was represented by 25 participants: military and volunteers of the Armed Forces, National Guard, National Police and volunteer battalions.
As a part of the national team of Ukraine, athletes of the Center for Physical Culture and Sports Restoration founded by the municipal sports club Dnipro of the Cherkasy City Council competed – Vadym Maznichenko and Maksym Dmytrash. According to the results of the competition, Cherkasy citizens won the following awards: Vadym – gold in the national archery team and two bronze medals – in individual competitions in archery and shot put, Maksym won two silver medals – in long jump and rowing on simulators.
Gradually, the number of willing war veterans to engage in the Center for Physical Culture and Sports Recovery of the Dnipro Sports Complex is increasing. Along with individual adaptive sports – athletics, table tennis, archery, and powerlifting on the basis of the Center, starting from January 2024, team adaptive sports are already actively developing – sitting volleyball and football on crutches for people with disabilities, including amputations of limbs – AMP football (amputee football). Special crutches for veterans were purchased by patrons.
Training in all sports is conducted under the guidance of experienced coaches.
May 31 – June 2, 2024, the team of war veterans of MSC Dnipro took part in the all-Ukrainian selection for the national team of Ukraine for the Invictus Games in Vancouver-Whistler 2025.
The Invictus Games (the world’s largest international event for veterans and military personnel injured while performing their official duties) in Vancouver-Whistler 2025 will be the first-ever hybrid winter Games. Participants will take part in swimming, rowing on simulators, sitting volleyball, basketball on wheelchairs, and rugby on wheelchairs, including new winter sports: alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, cross-country skiing, skeleton, and curling on wheelchairs.

In August 2022, was opened a set in the section for football for children called – MSC “Dnipro” kids, where coaches Kulinich Bogdan and Vlasenko Vitaly conducted training for children of the initial training group. In the section, about 50 children of the youngest age are engaged in a specially developed training program.

SEASON 2020-2021
On the 25th of August, 2020, by the decision of the executive committee of the Cherkasy City Council, the stadium with a football field, stands for spectators, and athletics tracks was renamed the Cherkasy Arena.
A comfortable bus for the travel of the teams of MSC Dnipro to the matches of the championships of Ukraine was purchased. On October 23, 2020, the city head of Cherkasy handed over the keys to the bus.
This season, the U-19 men’s futsal team was created. Accordingly, the number of Championships in Ukraine where Cherkasy MSC Dnipro is represented has increased.

At the beginning of 2021, at the initiative of MSC Dnipro (Cherkasy), the project “Champions in Life” was created. From then on, children with different health characteristics have the opportunity to participate in football classes based on the club and improve their physical and psychological condition under the guidance of coaches: Bogdan Kulinich, Natalia Kulinich, Tatyana Korol, and Mikhailo Yakunin. Today, more than 60 children of different ages and social statuses are involved in this project.
SEASON 2019-2020
This season, a boxing hall in the Sokol sports complex was equipped. In the administration building on two floors for athletes coming to compete in Cherkasy, a major overhaul was made for the hostel (restrooms) with all the necessary amenities.
A summer arena for boxing is installed on the territory, where training and fights of the championships of Cherkasy and Cherkasy region are held.
The structure of the utility company included a sports ground in the South-West region on the street. O. Telihy.
To popularize game sports, harmonious and comprehensive development, promote a healthy lifestyle, and attract children to sports, athletes, and coaches of the Dnipro Sports Complex conduct master classes “First training” in schools in Cherkasy. During the master classes, athletes and coaches of the club tell and teach children the features of such sports as football, volleyball, futsal, and rugby.
In January 2020, by the decision of the session of the Cherkasy City Council, the name of the Central Stadium was changed to the municipal enterprise Municipal Sports Club ‘Dnipro’ of the Cherkasy City Council.
The formation of new teams in-game sports continues. The team of nineteen football players, who, according to the regulations, could no longer play in official U19 competitions, continued their performance in the Ukrainian Championship among amateur teams, and a new set of young men took place in the team. Women’s volleyball and futsal teams and men’s rugby-7 teams were also created. In all teams, local pupils of sports schools play and in competitions for the average age of players Cherkasy citizens among the youngest.
